Description

When Caring Hurts:  In Animal Welfare Becomes Overwhelm: When Caring Hurts: A 90-Minute Reset for Animal Lovers.

You care deeply. That’s not the problem.

But over time, caring for animals—especially in distress, rescue, end-of-life, or constant need—can begin to wear down your emotional, physical, and spiritual reserves.

This workshop is a space to acknowledge that reality without shame, and to begin restoring yourself from the inside out.

If you’ve been feeling…

  • Emotionally exhausted but still showing up
  • Numb after repeated loss, crisis, or trauma exposure
  • Guilty when you rest or step back
  • Overwhelmed by the scale of need
  • Like you’re “not doing enough” no matter how much you give

…you are not alone, and you are not failing.

You are likely experiencing compassion fatigue.

What this 90-minute workshop offers

This is a grounded, supportive space to:

  • Understand what compassion fatigue actually is (and what it is not)
  • Recognize the signs in your body, mind, and emotional patterns
  • Explore the difference between healthy empathy and depletion
  • Learn simple nervous system reset tools you can use immediately
  • Reconnect with why you started caring in the first place—without burning out in the process

You will leave with practical tools and a clearer sense of what sustainable care can look like for you.

This is not about doing less care. It’s about doing care differently.

You don’t need to harden yourself to survive this work.

And you don’t need to abandon what you love to feel better.

This workshop is about creating space for you to stay in the work without losing yourself in it.

Who this is for

This workshop is for:

  • Animal rescuers and shelter volunteers
  • Veterinary staff and technicians
  • Animal end-of-life doulas and caregivers
  • Foster caregivers and transport volunteers
  • Wildlife and sanctuary workers
  • Deeply empathetic animal lovers in emotionally demanding roles

Your guide

Michelle, founder of My Purpose Path, is a compassion fatigue educator, spiritual coach, and animal companion end-of-life doula who supports people working at the emotional edges of care. Her work centers on meaning, resilience, and sustainable compassion—especially for those who give deeply to animals.

Reserve your spot

This is a small, intentional session designed for real support—not overwhelm.

A final note

You don’t have to reach total burnout to deserve care. You’re allowed to be supported while you’re still giving.

There’s a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from caring. And it’s called Compassion Fatigue.

You go home…
and the day doesn’t leave you. The animals. The people. The things you wish you could have done differently.

You try to rest, but your mind keeps going.
You feel drained, maybe even a little numb.
And then comes the guilt… because you still care.

If this feels familiar, you’re not alone.
This is what happens when a caring heart doesn’t have a place to land.

And this happened to me.

This workshop is a place to land

This is a small, live, 90-minute workshop where you’ll be guided through a few simple practices to help you feel:

  • calmer in your body
  • clearer in your mind
  • more like yourself again

You don’t have to share anything if you don’t want to.
You can simply come, listen, and take what you need.

What we’ll do together

This isn’t about learning a lot of information.
It’s about feeling a shift.

During our time together, I’ll guide you through:

  • A simple way to understand what’s happening inside you (and why it makes sense)
  • One guided journaling exercise to help release what you’ve been holding
  • A short, calming breath practice you can use anytime
  • One gentle boundary insight that can change how you carry this work

You’ll leave with something you can return to—not just ideas, but practices.

The symptoms can seem challenging to pin down, and at some point, everyone has experienced one or more at the same time.

· Outbursts. Loss of control over emotions

· Impulse to rescue anyone in need

· Isolation. Self-imposed.

· Feeling depleted

· Sadness and apathy

· Excessively complaining about management and coworkers

· Lack of interest in self-care practices, including hygiene, exercise, healthy eating

· Recurring nightmares, flashbacks

· Persistent physical ailments, including allergies, headaches, and more

· Difficulties concentrating/mentally tired

· Accident prone

This is for you if you experience those symptoms regularly.

A note from me

I’ve been where you are.

I know what it feels like to love the work… and then slowly feel it taking something from you.

This workshop isn’t about fixing you. It’s about helping you reconnect with yourself so you can keep caring in a way that doesn’t cost you so much.
